Polar Climate and Environmental Change in the Last Millennium

Dear All,

On August 30 to September 1, 2021, the “3rd International Conference: Polar Climate and Environmental Change in the Last Millennium” was held in “hybrid mode” (both in person and on-line via the MS Teams platform). Forty-four scientists attended from Poland and around the world (incl. the USA, Russia, Peru, Iceland).

On Day 1 (August 30), fourteen papers were delivered on topics ranging from climate and polar ecosystem modelling, glaciers and sea ice, to permafrost dynamics and the reconstruction of climatic and environmental conditions in polar areas.

On Day 2 (August 31), ten papers were presented on climate change in polar regions based on long-term meteorological observations.

An important part of the meeting was the scientific discussion of observed climate changes and their consequences, not only for the polar regions, but also for the rest of the world.

On the last day (September 1), there was a tour of Toruń.

We would like to thank everyone for participating in the conference.

We look forward to seeing you in four years’ time at the next “Polar Climate ...” conference in Toruń.

Dear All,

We are pleased to inform you that the Organizing Committee of the 3rd International Conference on 'Polar Climate and Environmental Change in the Last Millennium'   decided that the Conference will take place in a hybrid manner from 30th August to 1st September 2021.

The Committee also proposed new deadline dates for registration and sending abstracts. For details, see https://polarclimate2020.umk.pl/pages/Important_dates/

According to the need for protection attendees, we have also changed the venue for the large hall located in the Nicolaus Copernicus University campus (https://polarclimate2020.umk.pl/pages/venue/). Thanks to that, all safety procedures preventing SARS-CoV-2 infections will be preserved and align with the Nicolaus Copernicus University internal safety policies.

We are looking for your participation in the Conference.

Cheers,

On behalf of the Organizing Committee
Rajmund Przybylak, Andrzej Araźny, and Przemysław Wyszyński
